Personal Care Program
Similarly to the Aged and Disabled Waiver Program, the West Virginia Medicaid Personal Care Services Program is an in-home care program for West Virginia Medicaid members who may need help with activities of daily living. Once you're enrolled in the program, we'll assign you a personal attendant to help you with the areas of daily living you need help with (such as bathing, grooming, dressing, meal preparation, etc.).
To be eligible for the Personal Care program, a person must be on Medicaid and require assistance in at least three areas of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, walking, eating, etc. After you have applied, the program will send a nurse to assess if you qualify. Essential Needs does not assess or determine if you are eligible - that's up to the state.
If you have us as your personal care agency, our RN will work with you to craft your plan of care, and then we'll assign a direct care worker to assist you according to that plan of care. If there's someone you'd like to be your caregiver, such as a relative* or friend, we're more than happy to hire them to be your care worker.
*Spouses are unable to be care workers for a client.
